One of the most obvious things you can do in a multimedia ebook is insert video.
We’ve spent the last 12 years looking at how books get translated into other media, be it film, animation, computer game, website, social media, audiobook or app.
In that time we’ve made loads of mistakes, and learned (we hope) how to be sensitive to the author and the book when it comes to making manifest events that only usually take place in your imagination.
When it came to Enhanced Editions we knew that we wanted to do two things:
- Introduce video the reading experience only where it really adds something
- Give readers the opportunity to either watch all the videos in context with the text (and indeed the audiobook), or to treat them as “Extras” and watch them all in one go.
What we really wanted to do was to keep it very simple, and to respect the book and the reader.
Hopefully, this is exactly what we’ve done. Let us know what you think and how we can make it better.
