Bunny Munro submitted to App storeSorry for the silence. Have had our heads very very far down.

We’ve just submitted Nick Cave’s The Death of Bunny Munro to the app store for review. This is really exciting news – the fruit of a year or more’s labour.

Bunny is, in our view, the most complete piece of digital – some would say vertical – publishing yet attempted by a publisher. Canongate is publishing the book in the following editions:

  • Hardback edition out September 9th
  • Audiobook (on which more later) out September
  • Limited Edition available for pre-order late August
  • (Unenhanced) ebook (epub format) available with the hardback

Additionally, Canongate has sold the rights for Bunny into 31 different countries, many of whom are among the most prestigious literary houses around the world, and who will be publishing Nick at the same time as Canongate.

We’ve teamed up with Canongate to produce an Enhanced Edition with the following enhancements:

  • All of our out-of-the-box features.
  • Full audiobook. More on this later but the audiobook alone is a staggering piece of work, read by Nick (in full) and featuring a soundscape of original music by Nick and fellow Bad Seed Warren Ellis. Additionaly, the audiobook has been mixed binaurally specially for headphones, by Arup acoustics. And, it’s been mastered by legendary production house Sterling Sound.
  • Full sync of audiobook to ebook. Yes, you read that right. We’ve built the software to allow you to listen and read the book at the same time, and switch from one format to the other without losing your place. How cool is that?
  • Eleven videos. Directed by Iain and Jane, there are eleven videos of Nick reading from the book. The videos are dropped into the text at the relevant time, but also available in an “Extras” folder.
  • Exclusive news feed of updates and bonus material coming from Nick, Canongate and us.

We’re obviously really psyched about this and can’t wait to hear back from Apple. More soon.
