“No other living Canadian has done so much — nationally and internationally — to make us aware of the world we live in and of its precarious state. And no one else started this task so early and has taken so much flak for it.” — Margaret Atwood

“Occasionally we encounter someone who appeals to the better angels of our nature and reminds us of values we once held dear. For me that person was David Suzuki.” — Sturla Gunnarsson

In December 2009, in a sold-out auditorium, David Suzuki delivered a lecture that he described as “a distillation of my life and thoughts, my legacy, what I want to say before I die.” The lecture was expanded into a book called The Legacy: An Elder’s Vision for Our Sustainable Future (published by Greystone Books with the David Suzuki Foundation). The lecture also forms the core of the feature documentary Force of Nature: The David Suzuki Movie, which was directed by Sturla Gunnarsson and is set to premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
